Frequently asked questions

This FAQ is designed to provide clarity and information to the general public interested in the topics Voices Unhidden addresses. We believe informed communities are empowered communities. Below are some of the most common questions we receive.

What we do?

Voices Unhidden works to elevate and support individuals affected by online harassment and silencing, in coordination with Block Means Stop. Together, we promote boundaries, respect, documentation, and advocacy to help ensure voices are heard and harm is addressed.  Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for those who have been silenced.

What's the one thing you want people to understand or learn?

That blocking, disengaging, and asking someone to stop are legitimate boundaries, and ignoring them can cause real harm.

Who are you trying to help?

These FAQs are for individuals impacted by online harassment and abuse, as well as professionals, advocates, and community members working to address these issues responsibly.

How we help?

We help by listening first.

Voices Unhidden provides a supportive space for individuals whose voices have been silenced after setting boundaries or experiencing online harassment.

Our work focuses on:

  • Listening and validation for people who have been ignored or dismissed

  • Education on proper documentation as well as helping individuals preserve records of harassment or boundary violations

  • Education and guidance on boundaries, online safety, and responsible advocacy

  • Advocacy and awareness, in coordination with Block Means Stop, to reinforce that blocking and disengagement are valid and should be respected

Together, our initiatives work to ensure that voices are heard, boundaries are honored, and harm is taken seriously.

What can be done?

There are many ways to get involved. You can:

  • Volunteer your time or skills to support outreach, education, and advocacy efforts

  • Donate to help sustain programs that amplify voices and promote boundaries and respect

  • Share information and resources to raise awareness about online harassment and abuse

  • Participate in events, campaigns, and community discussions that center on accountability and support

  • Advocate for policy change by supporting laws and platform practices that reinforce boundaries and digital safety, including the principles behind Block Means Stop

  • Engage responsibly online by respecting boundaries and refusing to amplify harassment

Every responsible action—large or small—helps create a culture where voices are heard and boundaries are respected.
